Is the Anti-Immigration law in Arizona a violation of Civil Rights due to the potential for racial profiling of non-whites?

Arizona Law = Jim Crow... Great Commentary from a Classmate of ours...

>>>Do we spot an illegal immigrant by the way they dress, speak, and/or act in a public setting? What assumptions do we make in order to determine that they ARE un-documented? The reason why I am equating this bill with the Jim Crow system is because POLICE ARE USING THE SAME SYSTEM TO IDENTIFY A BLACK PERSON TO DETERMINE IF THEYRE FREED SLAVES OR RUNAWAY SLAVES. I have spoken with descendants of slaves in the Carolinas, Virginia, and Georgia. So therefore, the way I equated the bill with this system IS valid. Oftentimes, whites will stop Black men and Black women in a public setting thinking they are runaway slaves. And oftentimes if they can't prove it or they don't have their FREEDOM PAPERS with them, they will be prosecuted or beaten. So therefore, their "FREEDOM PAPERS" have to be with them AT ALL TIMES or they risk being thrown back into slavery. SO IN ORDER TO AVOID PROSECUTION. DO HISPANICS HAVE TO CARRY PROPER DOCUMENTS WITH THEM NOW AT ALL TIMES TO PROVE THAT THEY ARE LEGAL ALIENS?

>>>So yes, I am UNEDUCATED, I am IGNORANT, I am MIS-INFORMED. And I, along with many MINORITIES, are prominent LIARS and WE always make baseless allegations of Racism, and the narratives of slaves that have been erased in our history is NOT REAL. And this Arizona Bill is not UNJUST in order to keep these Mother fuckin' Bottom Feeders off "YOUR-Diverse-Everyone-is- Welcoming-COUNTRY." And the US policing system HAS been entirely reformed since slavery… in your white eyes at least. (Read Kristian Williams' "Our Enemies in Blue: Police and Power in America"--- I know you won't because I's un-Educated)

>>>To say the least, the bill's aim is to "identify", prosecute, and deport illegal immigrants. The question is: how will Arizona identify illegal immigrants? That's right… I forgot… the same way law enforcement nationwide has inefficiently identified every Black men & women as runaway slaves when proper document is lacking- the same way law enforcement has inefficiently indentified Black, Brown, and Native men of today with the preconceived notion that they're all criminals until proven innocent.

>>>Remember this: YOU DON'T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU. Because in reality, you and I know that we middle and upper class people think that these farm jobs are beneath us. This country won't survive without them. Let's say Obama just says: "You white people are right, what was I thinking?… let's haul all of 'em and put these people on produce trucks then drive them to the border"--- Let's just see if your Mammy will be on her knees for 12 hours or more a day in Washington or California farms harvesting potatoes, or picking apples and cherries on orchards. So before you say grace- make sure to Thank the Hispanic people that harvested that lettuce and tomato in your salad.

>>>Since our job as people of color is to make you feel comfortable, It would probably be easier for you if you heard a white man saying what minorities have been saying regarding Racism, so I recommend you read WHITE LIKE ME by an antiracist named TIM WISE. (Again, Tim Wise might not be real "cus Im not learnin nuttin' in da skool house.")

>>>His words would carry more validity, because afterall- I AM un-EDUCATED and "Im not knowin' nothin better then jes cause all these rawkus on white folks." Thank You. Have a Nice Day.

  1. I'm a Mexican/American and an Arizonan. Your commentary is both unjust and inflammatory to the situation here in Arizona. I have dark hair and darks skin and have never once been targeted by any law enforcement.

The civil rights movement of our African American brethren was both JUST and PURE in its foundation and efforts. The uproar regarding the situation IN MY STATE fanned by passes by should NEVER BE confused or connected to their storied cause.

They were upholding the RULE OF LAW, whereas this so called movement is aimed at IGNORING the rule of Law. Never once have you heard illegals HUMAN BEINGS being refused any type of help in Arizona whether it be financial or medical.

To pigeonhole Arizona has a jack booted Nazi society is irresponsible. Jim Crow Law's my ass!

  2. I liked this article and congratulate the author.

I like everything about the study of Slavery and Black History. I am a fan of all ethnic studies for all ethnics.

Since I fell in love with the science of Demography then I studied this about the names of Babies :

    ***********************************
    ***********************************

Baby Girl Names : Very Ironic : Isabella dethroned Emma, and Maria replaced Mary in the USA - Why so many Hispanic and Jewish Names ??

Isabella replaced Emma as the top name for baby girls born in the United States in 2009, Maria is replacing Mary - Lots of Hispanic and Jewish Names for babies.

So the Hispanic Maria is replacing the English Mary - And the Hispanics Isabella and Isabel are replacing the most British Elizabeth.

The Social Security Administration released its list of the most popular baby names of 2009 on May 7, 2010, and the name Mary has fallen out of the top 100 girl names for the first time since 1880.

Maria has become very common as a name for a Baby Girl in the USA, it is now one of the favorites.

As trends for popular baby names change, one of the top girl names, Mary, has become one of the more uncommon baby names for newborn girls in the United States.

The jewish Jacob is number one for baby boys.

The 10 most popular girls' names, in order, are: Isabella, Emma, Olivia, Sophia, Ava, Emily, Madison, Abigail, Chloe and Mia.

The 10 most popular boys' name, also in order, are: Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Alexander, William, Joshua, Daniel, Jayden, Noah and Anthony.

  3. Seriously? You are attributing the fact that Isabella and Jacob are popular names now to something other than the fact that they are two of the most popular characters in the Twilight book series. Many younger moms are as infatuated with the books as teenagers. I'm more surprised that Edward isn't up there more.

Arizona isn't trying to become a Jim Crow state. ILLEGAL immigration (let me re-emphasize ILLEGAL) is wrong and needs to be stopped. Arizona is actually stepping up to the plate. Are you aware that not only Mexicans are entering our border we share with them illegally, there is a growing problem of terrorist types using this method to breech our borders. Floods of money from our enemies all over the world are pouring into making sure this border stays unsecure and fools like this blog writer are worried about the AZ law being used to racially profile people.

I wish he'd come down here and spend a few days talking to locals that don't have their heads up their ignorant asses like the fools that are against this law. If people were paying attention, Mexicans entering our country illegally would be the least of our worries with such an insecure border. I don't care what color your skin is if you are in my country legally and can prove it. Oh, btw, an Arizona driver's license that has no reason to look fake means you are in this country legally. People from other states that have less strict requirements for obtaining a license should be fine unless they have trouble speaking English or exhibit other behaviors that would lead an officer to think they have something to hide. If you are a person that might make an officer suspicious because you don't carry a license (which is required by law in most places) or act funny, be prepared to be questioned further. I would expect any country I visit to keep an eye on me if I was acting suspicious. Why can't America?

  4. Is the Canadian border that much more secure than the Mexican border? Is it not a fact that potential terrorists have entered the country through Canada?
Maybe Northern States should pull over all white people to make sure that they are not illegal canadian immigrants. Lets see where people would stand if THIS was the case. Good Job BOBCAT

  5. I'm about to move near the Canadian border in fact. If they aren't securing the border, then I fully believe they should be. I'm fine with police pulling over people of any color (if they are breaking the law to justify being pulled over or participating in suspicious activity) and in the process of questioning about their actions, asking them if they are legal residents or LEGAL visitors to our country...with proof. I haven't had the opportunity to travel out of the US, but I would fully expect the police in any other country around the world to ask to see documentation on my legal status if I was pulled over visiting their country.

Honestly, why is it a huge deal in America? Are we supposed to just blindly trust everyone?
